i had intentions of making my next post about a yummy dessert, but because yesterday’s pinched nerve left me basically couch-ridden all day, i wasn’t able to do any hardcore cooking. i decided to go ahead and post the pictures and tips from this horrible pink paper table project!
i scored this table for a quick buck. literally $1. someone thought gluing pink scrapbook paper down to this perfect hand-built bench/table was a good idea. as you can see, it was not.
i had hoped i could just peel the paper off and have some minor scraping to do, but that wasn’t the case. i had to bust out the handy dandy hand sander. again, if you don’t own one, make it your next craft purchase! it was literally $13 at walmart!

once sanded, i taped the area off that i wanted to paint with chalk paint. i used a painters tape to ensure the paint wouldn’t seep underneath and outside the lines.

i’ve found the easiest way to use the paint is to pour it into a wide-mouth plastic cup or onto a paper plate.. the kind that has the coating on it so it’s heavy duty!

then you paint!

once this dried, i removed the tape and planned out the pattern for the top. i just did a free-hand paint of the leaves using a multi-surface acrylic paint. i purposely went a little past the edges just to give it a little dimension since i was leaving the edges stained wood. (that’s how the wood was already when i bought it.)

once the pattern is completely dried, i used a chalk wax on top to seal! wait 24 hours and buff to your desired sheen and then it’s DONE! i’m happy to say i flipped this table and sold it for $40! hell of a deal if you ask me! 🙂 below are final beauty shots!

and here are the products i used, which you can find on http://www.plaidonline.com!

cheers, friends!
